Singapore National Eye Centre

The Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) is a provider of ophthalmic care for local and international patients. It has opened in 1990 and has since grown and became capable to accommodate up to 14,000 major eye surgeries and 13,000 laser procedures annually. The facility offers a full range of eye treatments that address the entire scope of eye conditions.

SNEC particularly serves nine subspecialties, including Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cornea, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Oculoplastic and Aesthetic Eyeplastic, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Refractive Surgery, Ocular Inflammation and Immunology Service and Vitro-Retina. SNEC is also active in conducting clinical trials and research for certain eye conditions like myopia and glaucoma.

SNEC has undergone an expansion to extend their services furthermore. It was funded by the government and cost about $50 million. The new extension wing is an 8 storey building consisting of 2 floors of outpatient clinics and its ancillary facilities, 5 operating theaters, an auditorium and a new resource center, and 2 floors housing research clinics, laboratories and administrative offices of the Singapore Eye Research Institute.

SNEC is located in 11 Third Hospital Avenue and can also be reached through its affiliates. SNEC is tie up with the Changi General Hospital and the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The centre also has a branch in Balestier, at the Parkway Health Day Surgery and Medical Centre.
