Body hair transplantation is a procedure designed to restore hair most commonly to the chest and abdomen area, but can also be applied to the pubic hair, axilla, and any other area hair is desired, to both thicken the existing hair or to provide hair growth where there is none. The absence of hair could be due to genetics, prior electrolysis, laser hair removal, or even surgery scar repair, burns or other types of accidents.

For most patients seeking revision work, the result of the initial hair restoration is a “pluggy” or “doll’s hair” look. This is usually from the transplanting of grafts that were too large, either performed years earlier or more recently with old-fashioned, outmoded techniques. Often times, these grafts need to be removed and dissected down (FUE plug punch removal), then replanted in a more aesthetic pattern to achieve a much more natural appearance.

A well balanced eyebrow often requires the transplanting of about 400 hair follicles. Partial eyebrow implants will usually require less. The targeted amount of follicles can be determined during your free consultation.

Eyelash hair transplantation, also known as eyelash implants, is a relatively new procedure that originally was used to treat areas of the eyelid that have no eyelashes due to genetics, alopecia, or trauma such as that from cancer surgery or burns. Recently, however, Dr. Romeo Bato has been using the procedure to thicken and enhance the appearance of the eyelashes, in individuals who already have eyelashes.

Nu/Hart puts great emphasis on restoring your hairline. This zone of hair needs to transition from fine, thin, solitary hairs at the front to thicker, denser hair in the back of your head. This is typically accomplished by placing one and two-hair follicular units in front, while sometimes placing two to three-hair follicular units at the top and back for maximum coverage and density. When older methods of hair restoration surgery are used, current techniques are performed improperly or, less commonly, when a patient is a poor healer, scarring may be excessive and may present a cosmetic problem. The scarring may be due to the plug itself (which invariably leaves a round white scar), it may be caused by the elevation or depression of grafts (seen with some slit and minigrafting techniques), or it may be due to a stretched or thickened donor scar.
